You would have to have been living under a rock not to know that the ex-Big Brother winner is dying of cervical cancer and is expected to live for just a few more months.
The subject is clearly an emotional one for many of our readers, so much so that it was only after great consideration that I decided to write this blog.
This is the kind of comment we have been receiving from readers:
“I’m finding it quite sickening now and it’s getting past a joke with Jade Goody and her cancer. I feel extremely sorry for her and can’t begin to imagine what she is going through. But to broadcast her health and go on about how she is going to die is more than disturbing… Things like this should be personal and dealt with in a professional manner, away from the public eye.”
It seems common sense doesn’t it? I don’t think even the most hardened of celebrity websites would disagree that Jade deserves to die in peace. Certainly the tabloids which so famously came down against her over the Shilpa Shetty race row are now immovable in their support for Jade.
The dilemma for media outlets is that Jade and her PR Max Clifford are going out of their way to attract publicity. Of course even if they weren’t doing this the media would still report on the story, but would it be on the front page of most newspapers every day? No.
The Clifford-Goody camp is strategically feeding the media on a daily basis to ensure maximum and prolonged exposure.
On Sunday it was announced that Jade’s cancer was terminal; on Monday it was announced Jade was getting married; Tuesday, Max Clifford appeared on Sky News saying Elton John had offered to host the wedding; on Wednesday Jade sold the rights of the wedding to OK! Magazine and Living TV. Today we are hearing that Girls Aloud will be performing at the ceremony.
Believe me, if Jade wanted privacy she would not have hired Max Clifford.
But there are two things that should be remembered during this:
• The number of women seeking cervical cancer screenings has increased by more than 20% since she first announced her illness.
• Jade is raising the money to ensure her children will be financially taken care of for the rest of their lives.
So while Jade and Max are still seeking publicity, they will undoubtedly get it. For the media this is groundbreaking territory and while they’re being invited in, they won’t walk away.
I feel very sorry for Jade, but other women are not so lucky, they cannot guarantee finacial security for there children. If i was dying of cancer i would just try to live my life as normal as possible, not broadcast it for all to know.Maybe out of the proceeds she could make a donation to cancer research!!!!
The fact that I've just read your blog and that she is able to make so much money from this shows how celebrity obsessed we are.
I am sorry that she is terminally ill, but what is she really? A gameshow contestant with a big mouth.

I think it is terrible that Jade is going through such a traumatic ordeal and i wish her all the best with her wedding, and if she feels that this is going to financially secure a future for her children, then all the best to her. I also think that it is important that she is doing this in the public eye, as she has shown the perils of the disease to help motivate younger people to get reguarly checked to hopefully limit any potential suffering.

Good for her – she has a last chance to ensure that her children are secure for the rest of their lives – who wouldn't take it.
If dying in public, gives her the money to secure her boys future, then I have to respect Jade.
BUT what arrangements has she made for the bringing up of these beautiful boys? Her husband to be is nothing more than a kid himself, and should never be allowed custody of these boys.
All the money in the world, wont give them what they are entitled to, a normal boyhood, with a mum to share it with, to admonish, to praise and to laugh with, and I hope, therefore, that she has plans in place for their upbringing, as well as their security.

I think she has been extremely brave during the whole thing. If you don't think it's right what she's doing don't watch it. It is her choice to pulicise her health,marriage, etc. I think she has been a fantastic role model and most importnantly she is making sure her kids will be alright when she's gone.
Am I on my own in thinking it's not even news worthy at all? She is referred to as “A Star” in certain news articles, but is nothing more then a “Celeb” created by media attention for being utterly ignorant and stupid. And as mentioned in your article,m it is sad that is happening to her, however, does it need this “Bandwagon” attention?
I am afraid, that after having her wedding televised, the next thing will be a televised funeral. This really is Reality TV gone mad.
